The LaVale Volunteer Rescue Squad, Inc. seeks applicants for full-time and part-time Advanced Life Support (ALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) Clinicians. These positions are responsible for providing basic and advanced life support emergency medical services to ill or injured persons. Additional responsibilities include driving an ambulance; communicating with the dispatch center, patients, family members, and other health care professionals; and conducting equipment inspections and other station duties as assigned. Shifts are scheduled monthly. We work with our clinicians to accommodate availability while ensuring coverage. Full-time positions typically work two 24-hours shifts per week.
Yes. You must be able to obtain Maryland reciprocity through MIEMSS. We recommend starting the reciprocity process before or shortly after applying.
We support our clinicians' professional growth. BLS clinicians interested in advancing to ALS may be eligible for flexible scheduling to attend paramedic school.
A wide variety of training opportunities are also made available through the Maryland Fire and Rescue Institute, typically at no cost to the student.
Yes. All newly hired clinicians are scheduled as a third person with an experienced crew for a minimum of two shifts for orientation to our equipment and operations.
